I’m Starting to Notice Patterns in John Mercer’s Car

I’m walking back to the flat, Pandora’s hand in mine, and I notice something off about John Mercer’s car.

It’s parked outside our place, but it looks like he’s been driving it a bit more than usual lately.

The wheels are scuffed up some more than they were last week, and there’s a small dent on the passenger side door that I don’t remember being there before.

Now, it could just be nothing – John’s always parking in weird spots and scratching his car, but…

I’m not sure why this is bothering me.

It’s not like he owes me anything or that this has any real significance.

Maybe it’s just because Pandora squeezed my hand slightly tighter as we passed the car, and now I’m overthinking everything.

Yeah, that’s probably it.

Mr Whiskers is staring at us from the window, tail twitching, but even his cute little face can’t distract me from this nagging feeling in the back of my head…

I’ve been trying to shake off this feeling, but it’s sticking with me.

I keep glancing back at John’s car, and now I’m wondering if he’s been driving it late at night or early in the morning when Pandora’s not around.

Maybe that’s why he’s always getting up so early on Tuesdays – to drive somewhere before work.

But what could he be doing? It’s not like we’re exactly close, but…

maybe he’s got some kind of side hustle or something.

I don’t know, it’s just a weird thought.

And then there’s the dent – is that from a parking scrape or did someone hit him? I should ask John about it when I get back to the flat, see if anything comes up.

But what if he says no, tells me I’m being paranoid…

Pandora’s still holding my hand tight now, and I’m starting to feel a bit uneasy.

Maybe we should just go inside and forget about this whole thing.

Yeah, that’s probably what we’ll do.

Pandora’s squeezing my hand is making me feel a bit anxious, and I’m trying to shake it off.

But what if it’s not just about John’s car or his mysterious Tuesday mornings? What if there’s something else going on that I’m missing? Karen mentioned the other day that she saw a suspicious person lurking around our neighborhood at night, but when I asked her what they looked like, she just shrugged and said it was probably nothing.

Maybe this is all connected – John’s car, Karen’s sighting, my own nagging feeling…

No, no, no.

That’s too much of a stretch.

It’s probably just me overthinking things because I’m tired or stressed out about work.

But what if? What if something’s really going on and I’m the only one who notices? I should ask Karen more questions when I see her next, see if she remembers any other details…

Oh man, now my mind is racing with possibilities.

Pandora’s grip on my hand is getting tighter, almost like she’s trying to squeeze a confession out of me.

I’m starting to feel claustrophobic, and it’s not just because we’re in the car with Mr Whiskers in the backseat.

Mrs Jenkins’ words keep popping into my head – “you can’t be too careful these days” – and I wonder if she knows something about Pandora that she’s not letting on.

Maybe this is all a bit of a stretch, but what if Pandora’s been playing me all along? I remember how excited she was when we first started dating, always wanting to spend time together, go on long walks…

now it feels like she’s always busy or needs some alone time.

And that ring – the one with the weird symbol on it? She says it’s just a coincidence, but what if it’s not? What if it’s a signal or something? Ugh, my mind is racing with worst-case scenarios and I need to calm down before I start freaking out completely.

I’m starting to feel like I’m overthinking everything, but at the same time, I don’t want to ignore my instincts.

Maybe it’s not just about me or John Mercer’s car, maybe it’s about something bigger.

Like…

what if this person lurking around our neighborhood is connected to Dave, Mrs Jenkins’ grandson? He’s always been a bit of a loner, but that doesn’t mean he’s up to no good.

I remember seeing him walking home from his job at the corner store late one night last week – maybe it was around the same time Karen said she saw someone suspicious.

This is starting to feel like more than just coincidence…

now I’m wondering if Dave might be somehow involved, or if Mrs Jenkins knows something about her grandson that I don’t.

I’ve been trying to brush off the feeling of unease, but it’s getting harder with every passing minute.

I glance over at Pandora, who’s engrossed in her phone, and my mind starts racing again – what if she’s not even paying attention to me because she’s waiting for a signal from someone? Or maybe she’s just pretending to be distracted so I won’t notice something else.

My eyes scan the car, taking in Mr Whiskers sleeping peacefully on his cushion and John Mercer’s oblivious expression behind the wheel.

It’s like they’re all in on it together, leaving me out of some secret loop.

Mrs Jenkins’ words echo in my head again – “you can’t be too careful” – and I start to wonder if she knows something about Karen too.

Maybe Karen’s not just a neighbor, maybe she’s…

Now that I’m thinking about Dave and his possible connection to this person lurking around our neighborhood, I start wondering if there’s a link between him and John Mercer’s job at the IT firm.

Maybe he’s not just any ordinary employee, maybe he’s been using his position for something more sinister.

I recall John mentioning some security issues with their company’s servers, but I brushed it off as typical office drama – what if Dave was involved in hacking or data breaches? It’s a stretch, but I’m grasping at straws here.

Mrs Jenkins’ grandson might not be the only one with secrets; I start to suspect that John Mercer might be hiding something too.

His carefree attitude just got more suspicious by the minute.

And what about Karen – could she be in on it as well? She’s always been friendly, but is she just being polite or does she have an ulterior motive? I look over at Pandora again, and this time I wonder if she might know something too…

Pandora’s hand brushes against mine as she reaches for her phone, and I feel a spark of electricity run through my body.

It’s like she’s trying to subtly communicate something to me, but without actually saying anything.

I glance over at John Mercer, who’s still lost in his own world behind the wheel, and wonder if he’s somehow manipulating Pandora into doing his bidding.

Maybe she’s not even aware of it herself, maybe he’s been playing her all along.

The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced that Mrs Jenkins was right – we can’t trust anyone.

Even Dave, with his awkward smile and constant questions about our lives, could be a pawn in some larger game.

And Karen…Karen’s always been so nosy, maybe she’s just trying to gather intel for someone else.

I feel a chill run down my spine as I start to piece together all the little things that don’t add up.

Mrs Jenkins’ grandson’s behavior might be more than just mischief, but what if it’s actually a warning? A warning about Dave, who seems so innocent but might be using his affable nature to get close to us.

And John Mercer…I’m starting to think he’s not just carefree, but calculated.

He’s always been the one to suggest spontaneous trips or last-minute plans, maybe that’s how he gets people to let their guard down.

I remember Pandora mentioning how she loves going on adventures with him, and a nagging voice in my head says she might be in over her head.

What if John is using our social circle as some kind of experiment? The thought sends a wave of anxiety through me, making my grip on the door handle tighten as we speed down the highway.
