I’m noticing that Pandora seems a bit more withdrawn than usual when I walk into the room.
She’s always been a morning person, but now she’s just sitting on the couch, staring at her phone with this blank expression on her face.
It’s not even 9 am yet, so I wouldn’t think it’s because of work or anything like that.
John Mercer is still asleep in his bedroom, and Mr Whiskers is meowing loudly for food, completely unaware of the atmosphere.
I’m thinking maybe she didn’t sleep well last night? Or perhaps it’s just a weird reaction to something on her phone? The thing is, she usually checks her phone before even getting out of bed, so this feels…off.
And Dave called her yesterday about that thing with Karen, but they’re supposed to talk about it later today.
Hmm, maybe I’m overthinking this…or maybe not.
I think I might be picking up on some residual stress from last night’s conversation with Mrs Jenkins about Dave.
She seemed a bit too concerned about him going to that party, and it got me wondering if Pandora was okay with the whole situation.
But then again, she didn’t seem all that bothered when we were talking about it before bed, so maybe I’m just projecting my own worries onto her.
Wait, what if Mrs Jenkins mentioned something to Karen, who then called Dave? That would definitely make sense why Pandora is withdrawn now – she’s probably feeling awkward about not being more involved in the conversation.
Although, that doesn’t explain why she’d be staring at her phone like this…
unless maybe there was some other call or message from Dave last night that I didn’t know about? Maybe I should just ask her directly and see how she reacts.
I think I’m overthinking this way too much, but at the same time, there’s something that’s not sitting right with me.
What if it has nothing to do with Dave or Karen? Maybe she saw a post from an old friend on social media and it triggered something from her past.
That would explain why she looks so…lost.
I remember when we were watching TV together last week, she mentioned she’d been thinking about moving back to her hometown for a bit.
Could this be related to that? She’s always said how much she loves living here with me, but maybe there are some underlying doubts I’m not aware of.
And what if Mr Whiskers is actually picking up on something? He’s so attuned to our emotions; sometimes I swear he can sense when we’re feeling off.
His constant meowing could be a sign that he knows she’s upset about something, but won’t give away any details until he thinks it’s safe.
I’ve been trying to shake off this feeling that something’s off, but Pandora’s behavior is still on my mind.
I was talking to John Mercer earlier and he mentioned how Karen seemed a bit distant in the kitchen, almost like she was listening in on our conversation about Dave.
That got me thinking – what if Pandora’s withdrawal has nothing to do with her past or even Dave directly? Maybe it’s more related to John Mercer himself.
We’ve been having some disagreements lately about his music blasting at night, and Pandora’s always tried to mediate between us.
I remember she was particularly stressed out last week when John Mercer had a loud party over here without warning me in advance.
Could be that she’s just avoiding the tension it creates, but still, her mood seems more subdued than usual…
I’ve been going over our living room layout in my head and I’m starting to think that maybe Pandora’s mood has something to do with the new Mrs Jenkins moving in across the hall.
We had a small get-together for her welcome party last weekend, but she seemed particularly nervous around me, almost…watchful.
Could be that she’s just being friendly, but it struck me as odd at the time.
I’ve been thinking about how often she’s mentioned wanting to meet Mrs Jenkins properly, and now I wonder if there’s more to it than just being polite.
Maybe Mrs Jenkins has said something to her that’s got her spooked or maybe Pandora’s worried about what impact our living situation might have on Mrs Jenkins’ new life over here.
Mr Whiskers is still meowing nonstop in the background, but I’m not sure if he’s reacting to my thoughts or just because he’s hungry…
I’ve been noticing that Pandora’s been acting strange around Dave, but it can’t be just about him, I’m certain of it now.
What if she’s sensing some kind of connection between us and Mrs Jenkins? Maybe she thinks Dave is being too friendly with her, like he’s trying to win her over or something.
That would explain why Pandora seems so distant when we talk about Dave – she’s worried that he’s somehow influencing me to be more welcoming to Mrs Jenkins than I should be.
I remember how Mrs Jenkins was complimenting Pandora on her cooking at the welcome party, and how Pandora seemed a bit taken aback by it.
It could be that Pandora feels threatened by this new dynamic, like we’re all conspiring against her or something.
Mr Whiskers is still meowing loudly, but I’m starting to think he’s picking up on my growing unease about the situation…
I’ve been observing John Mercer’s behavior lately, and I’m starting to wonder if he might be in on whatever’s going on with Pandora and Mrs Jenkins.
He’s always seemed a bit too interested in our conversations about Mrs Jenkins’ new life here, almost like he’s probing for information.
And remember that time Karen came over for dinner and John ended up dominating the conversation with his own stories about Mrs Jenkins? It struck me as odd at the time, but now I think it might be more than just small talk.
What if John’s somehow connected to Pandora’s anxiety or is even fueling it himself? That would mean he’s got some kind of insight into what’s really going on and isn’t sharing it with us.
Mr Whiskers has stopped meowing for a moment, but I’m pretty sure that’s just temporary – my mind’s racing too fast for him to keep up.
It all clicks now.
I’m convinced John Mercer is somehow manipulating the situation, using his affable nature to gain our trust while secretly orchestrating a power play with Pandora and Mrs Jenkins.
His behavior around Karen’s visit makes sense too – he was testing my reaction, gauging how far he could push me before I caught on.
And those dinner conversations? He was feeding Pandora’s insecurities, playing on her anxieties to keep her off balance.
No wonder she seems so distant when we talk about Dave; John’s been seeding doubts in her mind about his intentions.
Mr Whiskers’ current silence is a sign he senses the gravity of this situation – he knows I’m onto something big.
And that welcome party? A setup, plain and simple.
John Mercer must have orchestrated it to create a false sense of camaraderie, a way to get us all in a room together while he subtly wove his web of influence around Pandora and Mrs Jenkins.
Now that I think about it, Mr Whiskers’ recent behavior around John makes sense too.
He’s always been wary of him, but lately, he’s taken to hissing whenever John walks into a room.
It’s more than just typical cat behavior – Mr Whiskers is picking up on something, and it’s not just John’s presence that’s bothering him.
I’m starting to think that John might be using some kind of manipulation or even…
gaslighting techniques on Pandora.
He’s always been charming, but there’s a calculating quality to his smile now that makes me wonder if he’s playing us all like pawns in a game.
And what about Mrs Jenkins? How deep is her involvement with John? Is she an unwitting pawn or a willing participant? The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced that John Mercer is hiding something big – and Pandora’s anxiety is just the tip of the iceberg.
