I’m sitting on the couch, staring at the coffee table in front of me.
It’s a bit messy, like we just got back from a night out or something.
There’s an empty energy drink can, a few crumpled up pieces of paper, and a stray cat hair that looks suspiciously like Mr Whiskers’ fur.
I’m thinking about how Pandora must have spilled the energy drink when she was cleaning up last night.
But why is there a piece of paper with some scribbled notes on it? It looks like John Mercer’s handwriting…
unless he borrowed Karen’s pen by mistake again.
The scribbles look a bit frantic, though – maybe we were arguing about something and I don’t remember.
Or maybe it was just Dave being an idiot and we had to bail him out of some stupid situation.
I’m not sure what to make of this mess, but my mind is starting to wander…
I’ve got it now – Mrs Jenkins must have dropped by and we were all trying to tidy up in a hurry.
That would explain why there’s still stuff on the coffee table, but I don’t remember her visiting last night.

And what’s with the cat hair? It’s weird how it’s just one single hair, like Mr Whiskers shed it right here.
Could be he snuck out of the room and came back in while we were distracted.
I swear I saw him sleeping on the windowsill earlier today, but maybe he was just biding his time until…
oh wait, what about Pandora’s birthday? She’s been stressed lately and I know she’s been having a tough week at work.
Maybe this mess is her way of blowing off steam – like, we had a big fight or something and she didn’t tell me.

I was just about to take Mr Whiskers out for a walk when I saw Karen’s boyfriend, Dave, walking down the hallway.
He’s a pretty chill guy, but something in his demeanor seemed off today.
