Cali Comfort BBQ

Dave

This weekend I went to La Mesa to and ate some Cali Comfort BBQ. It was a local joint with a sports bar feel to it. Here in the photos you can see Tri-tip, brisket, pulled pork sandwich, french fries, onion rings, and some pink and regular lemonade. The BBQ sauce was good and the staff was friendly. Here are some photos of the food and drinks.

Boar’s Head Handcrafted Sandwich

Dave

thekumachan_boars_head-1
I was at the supermarket and I saw a Boar’s Head turkey sandwich that looked pretty good. Now, although this sandwich did taste as good as it looked, one thing I didn’t notice until I opened it because the sandwiches were standing vertically was the huge lettering at the bottom that said, “Handcrafted.” As I was eating the sandwich I couldn’t help, but think about why they would put that on the packaging. Are other sandwiches made specifically by sandwich making machines? Is there some sort of sandwich apprenticeship that they are proudly displaying their craftsmanship? Are they trying to brag? Perhaps this is just a stupid marketing ploy to try to entice people to buy their sandwiches. Whichever it is, it is all nonsense. Just let the sandwich speak for itself. It looked good. It tasted good. Leave it alone.

Leninade – Get Hammered and Sickled in California

Dave

What the heck is happening in the super markets in California? I was in the super market and I came across a beverage called “Leninade” and their slogan is “Get hammered and sickled.” How the heck did something like this make its way into super markets in the United States? What kind of self-loathing, democratic, pigs would think it’s a good idea to sell this communist crap here? It just sickens me. What will I see next a nice “KGB” hand held radio?

Julian Pies

Elmo

We heard ” The pie of Julian is delicious!”  We wanted to see snow to mountain side too. so we went to Julian.
I thought that there was a restaurant called Julian. But Julian is a small town and good sight-seeing spot. They have many restaurant and hotel and Souvenir shop. Many tourists lined up in front of each restaurant when we arrived.
We had a hard time parking.
A pie shop was several, we lined up in the long line of the name called JULIAN PIE COMPANY. They have Many kinds of pies and cookie & muffin. Pie topping is whip cream and ice cream and cinnamon sauce and caramel with an additional charge ($1.95).
Drink menu is coffee and hot cocoa, and the water was free. The shop is small. However, there is a terrace seat in front and behind a shop. A purchase cash register of the slice was different from a hall. We lined up toward the slice.

I had a homemade apple pie. One slice was big. It was $3.50. The taste is a sweetness reserve. The sourness of the apple was moderate, too and it was full of the handmade feelings of grandmother and was delicious on a rumor street. I bought it in the hall ($14.95). I save it in the refrigerator one week. When I warmed pie before eating. my daughter usually did not eat pie.but she want to eat it every day for a snack. The restaurant of Julian was a high recommend on Yelp. If there is an opportunity, I want to go to the restaurant too.

Famous Beer Quotes

beer

“Long ago, when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was called witchcraft. Today it’s called golf.” -Will Rogers

Sometimes, after playing golf, I reflect on all the beer I drink, I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn’t drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. I think, “It is better to drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.”
-Babe Ruth

“I feel sorry for people who don’t drink. When they wake up in the morning, that’s as good as they’re going to feel all day.”
-Winston Churchill

“When I read about the evils of drinking after golfing I gave up reading.”
-Paul Horning

“24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not.”
-H. L. Mencken

“When we drink, we get drunk. When we get drunk, we fall asleep. When we fall asleep, we commit no sin. When we commit no sin, we go to heaven. So, let’s all get drunk and go to heaven!”
–George Bernard Shaw

“Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.”
-Benjamin Franklin

“Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.”
-Dave Barry

BEER: HELPING PEOPLE!
-W. C. Fields

Remember “I” before “E,” except in Budweiser.
-Professor Irwin Corey

To some it’s a six-pack, to me it’s a Support Group. Salvation in a can!
-Leo Durocher

One night at Cheers, Cliff Clavin said to his buddy, Norm Peterson: “Well, ya see, Norm, it’s like this. A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members! In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine! That’s why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

McDonald’s Burger of the Month

Dave

So I was going through a box I have of old stuff from high school and I found these McDonald’s signs for burgers of the month. I can’t believe I still have these things. Before I throw them away I decided to scan them into my computer and share them because the date on these signs says 1992. If you were curious as to different McDonald’s burgers of the month from Lowell, Michigan McDonald’s, here they are. There is the Bacon Double Cheeseburger Meal, The Quarter Pounder Club Meal, and also the Mushroom Swiss Quarter Pounder Meal. To be quite honest they look pretty delicious, but the thing that made my jaw drop is look at the price of these things. $3.29? Oh how nice it would be to go back to those prices. I wonder if instead of throwing these away, I should take them to the closest McDonald’s and stick them to McDonald’s windows. Then when people start ordering these burgers the McDonald’s staff will freak out. Now that would be funny.

Here are my photos of my experience.

Thai Food – Neung Kapow

Dave

My favorite Thai food is a dish called, “Neung Kapow.” This is a very common dish that can be found all throughout Thailand. The dish is made with beef, basil, oyster sauce, fish sauce, chili peppers and it is put on top of rice. The first place I ever had this dish was in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), Thailand in 2000. Some places I’ve seen where they call it “Pad Kapow,” but usually they will throw a cooked egg on top of it. I don’t like that. I have also seen where, depending on the location, they will throw chopped up green beans or onions in it. No matter where it is being made each area has it own unique twist to it, but the it is relatively the same dish. I found a Thai restaurant in Japan that makes this dish and it tastes very good. Sometimes in Japan you need to be careful because they will take a Thai dish and change it to the tastes of Japan so it is kind of a fusion dish. I don’t like that at all. Keep Thai food, Thai food. At the location in Japan I would buy oyster sauce and order the dish. Here are a couple photos of what the food looks like and this is a good brand of the oyster sauce.

Tokyo Hooters

Dave

Some buddies and I heard that they recently opened a Hooters restaurant in Tokyo, so we decided to go check it out.  Here was some of the waitresses.  The food was good and decently priced, but the weird thing was that the waitresses started dancing and you couldn’t film it or take photos of it as they were dancing.  This is weird because being in the land of Asian’s who take photos of literally everything this must be some kind of illegal dance or something.
